Is free will real if God knows everything?

Some wonder if free will can exist if God already knows what we will do. But knowledge is not the same as control.

For example, if a teacher knows her best student will likely get an A, her knowledge does not cause it. The student is still free to take the test. In the same way, God’s knowledge does not force our choices.

The Bible shows both truths: God knows all things, and people make real choices. Joshua told Israel, “Choose this day whom you will serve” (Joshua 24:15). Choices are meaningful, even though God knows the outcome.

God’s knowledge is like seeing the whole timeline at once. We see the present, but He sees past, present, and future together. This does not cancel free will but shows God’s greatness.

So free will is real. God knows what we will choose, but the choice is still ours. His knowledge does not take away our responsibility.
