Why do Christians say they experience God?

Christians often speak about “experiencing God.” What do they mean? It is not usually about seeing visions or hearing voices but about sensing His presence in real ways.

Some experience God through peace in hard times. The Bible calls this “the peace of God, which surpasses understanding” (Philippians 4:7). It is a calm that does not make sense in human terms.

Others experience God through answered prayer. When they pray and see specific results, they believe God is at work.

Many experience God in worship—through songs, Scripture, and fellowship with other believers. They feel His love and presence.

Still others experience transformation. People bound by addictions, anger, or fear find freedom when they follow Christ. The change in their lives is evidence of God’s power.

Christians say they experience God not because of imagination but because He is alive and active. These experiences are personal but real, pointing to a God who cares.
